MONACO — Ukrainian Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko called for a joint investigative group to investigate a parcel bomb explosion in Monaco after a major suspect was found dead near Ukraine's capital. Three people were wounded in the June 29, 2026, explosion, which targeted Ukrainian-born businessman Vadym Yermolaiev.

Kravchenko held consultations with Monaco prosecutor Stephane Thibault on July 3, 2026, regarding the investigation. "I have assured that Ukraine is open to full cooperation in accordance with international legal procedures. I am counting on the same stance from our partners in the Principality of Monaco." Kravchenko said. Thibault stated that investigators were examining all options and had no information on the motive for the bomb or its origin.

Authorities identified Anastasiia Berezovska as a suspect in planting the bomb in Monaco. She was wanted on charges of attempted murder, placing an explosive device in a public place with criminal intent, and criminal conspiracy. Berezovska allegedly fled on foot to France and then drove to Germany through several European countries, including Italy. Berezovska was shot, and her body was found around 11 p.m. local time on July 3, 2026, near Ukraine's capital. Ukraine's prosecutor-general's office confirmed her death.

Two suspects were detained in connection with Berezovska's murder, including an officer with the Main Directorate of Intelligence (HUR) and a former law enforcement officer. A court in Kyiv ordered the two suspects to be held in detention without bail. The HUR employee retracted his confession, stating the other defendant fired the shots and that he had confessed out of fear for his life.

Vadym Yermolaiev, his wife Anna Innokentiivna Yermolaeva, and their 13-year-old son David were hospitalized after the explosive device was set off at the entrance to their house. Anna Innokentiivna Yermolaeva's legs were partially severed, leading to a double amputation by doctors. Vadym Yermolaiev sustained burns and shrapnel injuries. David Yermolaiev suffered burns and bruises, with a bolt from the explosive device lodging in his leg. Vadym Yermolaiev is an active member of the Dnipro Jewish community and is reportedly conscious.
