NEW YORK CITY — On March 31, 2026, Megan Thee Stallion was taken to a local hospital during her performance of Moulin Rouge! The Musical at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre in New York City. Doctors identified extreme exhaustion, dehydration, vasoconstriction and low metabolic levels as the cause of her symptoms, her representatives said.

Megan Thee Stallion has since been treated, discharged and is now resting, her representatives said. The 31-year-old rapper made her Broadway debut as Zidler in Moulin Rouge! The Musical on March 24, 2026, and is scheduled to play the role until May 17, 2026.

"During Tuesday night's production, Megan started feeling very ill and was promptly transported to a local hospital, where her symptoms are currently being evaluated. We will share additional updates as more information becomes available." a spokesperson for the artist said.

"I thought I was gonna faint on stage, I really tried to push through my performance but I just couldn't." Megan Thee Stallion wrote on social media the next day. "I've been pushing myself past my limits lately, running on empty, and my body finally said enough."

"Everyone say a prayer for Megan, we are all at the hospital." Kellon Deryck, a hairstylist, said in a post on X.

Megan, whose real name is Megan Pete, is best known for the songs Savage, WAP and Body. She won three Grammy awards in 2021 for Best Rap Song, Best New Artist and Best Rap Performance, and was nominated for Album of the Year at the Grammy Awards in 2022.

She announced in February 2026 that she joined the cast of Moulin Rouge! The Musical as the show's owner and master of ceremonies, Zidler. The musical is the 36th longest-running show in Broadway history and will close on July 26, 2026. By its closing date, Moulin Rouge! The Musical will have played 2,265 regular performances and 24 previews.
