WASHINGTON, D.C. — Donald Trump redecorated the Oval Office and other White House spaces, adding gold embellishments to walls and ceilings. The renovations included new furnishings, a "Presidential Walk of Fame" installation in the West Wing colonnade, and changes to the Rose Garden.

Trump added gold trim to the crown molding on the Oval Office ceiling and installed a gold sign outside the office displaying "The Oval Office" in Shelley Script font. He also added a gold decal to the top of the Oval Office door and replaced the dark-blue rug originally designed for Bill Clinton with a lighter rug previously used by Ronald Reagan.

The "Presidential Walk of Fame" installation features plaques summarizing each presidency with critical commentary on his predecessors. The installation depicts President Joe Biden with a photo of an autopen producing his signature and refers to him as "sleepy," while President Barack Obama is described as "divisive." Karoline Leavitt said that he wrote many of the plaques himself.

In the Oval Office, Trump added flags of the Army, the Marine Corps, and the Navy to the existing American flag and presidential seal flag. He retained the gold curtains that had been installed during Biden's presidency and replaced a portrait of Franklin D. Roosevelt with one of George Washington. He added additional portraits with decorative frames to create a gallery wall.

He displayed historic gold urns and baskets from the White House collection on the Oval Office mantle and incorporated coasters branded with his name as gold decor. Trump wrote on Truth Social that the lobby leading to the Oval Office features a new marble floor.

The renovations extended beyond the Oval Office. He refinished the Palm Room in September with a new chandelier and a white marble floor. The Palm Room, which connects the White House Residence to the West Colonnade, had previously been furnished with plants, green benches, and a tile floor.

The lighter rug features the presidential seal in the center, a sunbeam pattern, and olive branches along the border as a symbol of peace. He used the lighter rug in the Oval Office during his first term.

During Biden's presidency, the wall outside the Oval Office in the West Wing featured only a presidential seal above the door and no other decorations. The ceiling of the Oval Office had crown molding that matched the cream wallpaper and no additional embellishments.

The Trump Tower penthouse in New York City features gilded ceilings, furniture, and artwork, while the Mar-a-Lago club in Palm Beach, Florida includes a ballroom covered in gold from floor to ceiling.
