BAHAMAS — Brian Hooker reported his wife, Lynette Hooker, 55, missing on April 4 after the couple was boating near Elbow Cay in the Abaco Islands, Bahamas. Lynette Hooker's body has not been recovered.

Brian Hooker told authorities his wife fell overboard from a dinghy during a nighttime ride from Elbow Cay while returning to their sailboat, the "Soulmate." He alleged she fell from the dinghy with its keys and was swept away by rough waters, forcing him to paddle back to shore.

U.S. Coast Guard investigators are examining the possibility that Lynette Hooker returned to the sailboat before disappearing. They are also investigating whether a physical altercation occurred aboard the vessel.

The "Soulmate" was seized by the Coast Guard in May about 40 nautical miles off Florida's coast. The dinghy was seized by investigators in the Bahamas in June. Evidence from the sailboat has been analyzed at an FBI facility in Quantico, Virginia.

Darlene Hamlett, Lynette Hooker's mother, stated, "She made it back to the boat, and there was foul play." Brian Hooker was briefly detained by Bahamian authorities after his wife's disappearance but was released and allowed to return to the U.S. He has not been charged with a crime and denies any wrongdoing.

In an April interview, Brian Hooker stated, "We were more like co-captains." He also wrote in a Facebook post, "I am heartbroken over the recent boat accident in unpredictable seas and high winds that caused my beloved Lynette to fall from our small dinghy near Elbow Cay in the Bahamas."
