SAN ANTONIO — Julie Marie Lopez, 20, was sentenced to 15 years in prison on July 9, 2026, after the Bexar County District Attorney's Office reduced her charge from murder to aggravated robbery in connection with the October 2024 death of Isaiah Guevara.

Judge Christine Del Prado presided over Lopez's case in Bexar County's 227th Criminal District Court. Lopez received credit for 499 days of time served. She was initially arrested in connection with Guevara's death, which occurred on October 26, 2024.

San Antonio police officers were dispatched to a shooting call just after 4 a.m. on Oct. 26, 2024, at the Villas of Oak Creste apartments in the 5300 block of Fredericksburg Road. Police found Guevara inside an apartment with an apparent gunshot wound.

Investigators discovered Instagram messages between Guevara and Lopez from the night of the shooting that included plans for them to meet. Surveillance video from a QuikTrip convenience store near Guevara's apartment showed Lopez and Guevara inside the store. Lopez sent a voice message to a witness at 3:42 a.m. on the day of the incident stating that the group was "hiding."

An anonymous tipster informed police on January 6, 2025, that they overheard Lopez discussing the incident with a relative after a Crime Stoppers bulletin was posted. According to court documents, Lopez admitted to being present at the victim's apartment on the night of the shooting and described the event as a setup. On January 15, 2025, a witness told police that Lopez had been involved in setting up Guevara to be robbed.

Christina Rodriguez, Guevara's aunt, said, "Them (the Bexar County DA's Office) changing it from, truly, a murder charge to a robbery charge is upsetting." She added, "And that's why we keep fighting. We're going to keep coming for the hearings because it's just not fair."

Denise Villarreal, Guevara's mother, said, "She's a lying little girl." Villarreal added that Lopez "tried to lie again in court." Rodriguez stated, "She set this up for him (Guevara) to be taken away from us." Villarreal said, "Still, I don't feel sorry for her at all."
