CARACAS — A medical mission from Haiti arrived in Venezuela on July 7, 2026, following deadly earthquakes in the region. The mission, led by Haiti's Minister of Public Health and Population Sinal Bertrand, included 29 specialist physicians and transported 5.5 tons of medical supplies.

Provisional figures as of July 8, 2026, indicated the earthquakes caused 3,685 deaths, 16,740 injuries, and between 20,000 and 50,000 missing persons. The medical team consists of specialists in orthopedics, surgery, anesthesiology, gynecology, and internal medicine. The supplies, which included ultrasound machines, oxygen concentrators, and specialized equipment for pediatric care, arrived at Simón Bolívar International Airport.

Noly Fernández, Venezuela's Vice Minister of Outpatient Care Networks, and Manuel Castillo Rengifo, Venezuela's designated ambassador to Belarus, received the Haitian delegation. "We did not come here to deliver leftovers, but to share what little we have with the Bolivarian people of Venezuela, as a sign of solidarity and fraternity," Bertrand said. He also stated, "We did not send a consultative delegation; we came with specialists ready to make themselves available to the Venezuelan government for 15, 20, or 30 days, or even as long as necessary."

Fernández said, "Venezuela welcomes them with great love, solidarity, and respect for Bolivarian ideals." She added, "Thanks to these specialists, we will be able to support our citizens both spiritually and physically, demonstrating that Venezuela is not alone." The Venezuelan Ministry of People's Power for Health is coordinating the deployment of the medical personnel to Caracas and the state of La Guaira.
