NORTHWEST HOUSTON — A single-vehicle crash resulted in one fatality and one critical injury at the intersection of Ella Boulevard and Pinemont Drive in northwest Houston at approximately 12:16 a.m. on July 9, 2026. The incident involved a blue Ford F-150 that lost control and struck a tree.

Authorities reported that a 30-year-old female passenger died at the scene. The driver, a 30-year-old male, was transported to a hospital where he remains in critical condition. Investigators believe the truck was traveling at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control.

The Houston Police Department reported the vehicle was traveling northbound on Ella Boulevard toward Pinemont Drive prior to the crash. The department's Vehicular Crimes Division is investigating the incident. There was one 911 caller who witnessed the crash.

Following the incident, Ella Boulevard was shut down for approximately two hours. Records also indicate the driver had a prior criminal history, which included a history of traffic and driving violations.
