SAN ANTONIO — Victoria Lauren Sandoval, 35, was arrested by San Antonio police officers on Monday afternoon after allegedly appearing to be under the influence of inhalants while caring for a 5-year-old boy. Sandoval faces a child endangerment charge, which is classified as a state jail felony.

Police responded to a location in the 1300 block of Springvale Drive shortly after 4 p.m. on Monday. The response followed a call from an individual who reported that Sandoval had sounded abnormal during a phone conversation. This person then went to Sandoval's location and observed that she appeared to be under the influence of inhalants.

Upon arrival, police officers attempted to enter the residence, but Sandoval reportedly pushed the door away, preventing entry. An officer was able to look inside when the door was slightly ajar and observed a boy in a wheelchair crying on the floor. An officer on the scene believed Sandoval was intoxicated, according to an SAPD preliminary report.

Sandoval was taken into custody by San Antonio police. She was booked into the Bexar County Adult Detention Center on Tuesday morning. The child is currently in the care of the person who initially contacted the San Antonio Police Department. The San Antonio Police Department's investigation into the incident remains ongoing.
