CLACTON — Count Binface confirmed his candidacy in the Clacton by-election, which will fill the seat left vacant by Nigel Farage's resignation as Member of Parliament for the constituency. Farage, who has represented Clacton since 2024 and leads Reform UK, stepped down from his position. Main rivals announced they would boycott the by-election.

Count Binface is the creation of comedian Jon Harvey, who is from Lewisham in southeast London. Harvey previously ran for office as Lord Buckethead, competing against Rishi Sunak, Boris Johnson, and Theresa May. Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch described Count Binface as the "people's candidate."

Count Binface launched a Ko-Fi donation page, which has received more than 5,000 donations since its launch on Tuesday, raising over £15,000. "Unlike some politicians with their £5m war chests (and ITV detective series back catalogues), I'm an entirely independent space warrior. I donated all profits from my London mayor campaign to charity, but I'd love to be able to keep fighting the intergalactic fight," he stated.

"In the unlikely event that the humans of Clacton prefer me to old Nige then I will do my very best to represent them," Count Binface said. He also stated, "I don't want them to go marching around for me. I don't know even if I'll get any votes."

Oddschecker reported a change in the betting odds for Count Binface, with his chances of winning the Clacton by-election decreasing from 5/1 to 7/2. Clacton is located in Essex, a region that recorded one of the highest votes to leave the European Union in 2016. In the 2024 London mayoral election, Count Binface received more votes than the Britain First candidate but did not retain his electoral deposit. Count Binface is scheduled to perform a sold-out live show on Thursday at London's Museum of Comedy. Westminster standing orders specify that members must remove headwear to enter and sit in the House of Commons chamber.
