The Thomas House Bar in Dublin announced in 2024 it would no longer permit AI-generated flyers to be displayed in its establishment. The bar cited its proximity to Ireland's largest art college as a reason for the policy.

In an Instagram post, the Thomas House Bar stated, "We're not accepting AI posters or flyers for the pub." The bar also wrote, "We're right next to Ireland's biggest art college, lads. It's not a good look."

Jill Oliver, a social media user, posted a viral parody featuring a ChatGPT-generated image that read, "YOUR FLYER LOOKS LIKE GARBAGE." Oliver added, "Hey if this is your flyer, I'm not going, I'm not donating, I'm not sharing. Don't ask me." Kenzi Green, a designer, created a video titled "Customers are begging you to stop the AI slop." Green's video has received 870,000 views, while another video titled "we are living in an AI flyer pandemic" has nearly 7 million views.

Green stated, "Your logo, food truck wrap, social media graphics, menus all look AI generated." She cautioned that "People are going to be able to spot that from a mile away and choose the competitor next to you that looks like they actually hired a human being." She also said, "It might feel like you're 'saving time and money,' but you're actually slowly turning your brand into something generic like all the other brands out there using AI tools."

Jonathon Yule, executive creative director for design at Concrete in Toronto, said that "Terrible posters are nothing new." He noted, "The only difference today is generative AI makes it easier than ever to get the veneer of 'polish' with none of the charm that these types of posters might have had when the designer was faced with constraints (usually time, resources or experience)."

Instances of AI-generated flyers have been noted in various locations. One flyer displayed on an easel advertised "Break Free Surfing California: SURF LESSONS VENICE BEACH." Anti-AI posters have also appeared, with some in Portuguese reading, "TUDO IGUAL: FLYER GERADO PELO CHATGT? CLARO QUE SIM!" and others in German stating, "BITTE KEINE FLYER MIT CHATGPT."
