WEST PALM BEACH, FLA. — Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis signed into law a bill passed by the Florida Legislature that would rename Palm Beach International Airport as "President Donald J. Trump International Airport." The name change is scheduled to take effect on July 1.

The Federal Aviation Administration said it must complete administrative tasks, including updating navigational charts and databases, as part of changing the airport name. Palm Beach County operates Palm Beach International Airport.

An entity managed by the Trump Organization filed a trademark application last month for the name "President Donald J. Trump International Airport." The bill requires Palm Beach County to have the perpetual and unrestricted right to use the Trump airport name and related abbreviations for airport purposes at no cost.

Eric Trump, executive vice president of the Trump Organization, said, "Proud to have played a small role in making this happen. Huge thanks to @megforflorida, @GovRonDeSantis, @JamesUtheimerFL, and the overwhelming majority in the Florida House."

Florida House Democratic Leader Fentrice Driskell said the bill would cost taxpayers $5 million.
