RESTON — Fairfax County police arrested 43-year-old Enda Browne on June 26, 2026, for a 2014 hit-and-run incident. The arrest took place at Dulles International Airport upon Browne's return to the U.S. after more than a decade as a fugitive in Ireland.

Browne faces a felony hit-and-run charge. He is currently being held without bond in a detention center. Browne resides in Herndon, Virginia.

The incident occurred on November 16, 2014, at approximately 6:30 p.m., when police responded to reports of a woman struck by a car at the intersection of Reston Parkway and Spectrum Center Drive. The woman sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to a hospital, where her condition later improved. At the time of the incident, the woman was crossing the street with her young daughter, who was not harmed.

Detectives from the Fairfax County Police Crash Reconstruction Unit identified Browne as the driver. They determined he was traveling southbound on Reston Parkway when he struck the woman and subsequently fled the scene. Browne was initially arrested on the same charge and was scheduled to appear in court on June 8, 2015, but he did not attend.

Police discovered that Browne had fled the country after failing to appear for his court date. Detective Christopher Elliott of the Fairfax County Police Department stated that Browne was arrested, spent a night in jail, and was released on bond. Elliott said, "He was arrested, went to jail. Spent the night in jail, bonded out. And then when it came down time for court. And I'm standing in the courtroom waiting for him to be called with prelim, and his attorney stands up. 'Your honor, I haven't had contact with my client a couple days now, and I don't see him.'"

Investigators later learned that Browne had fled to Ireland, where he evaded arrest for over ten years. The U.S. Marshals Service informed Fairfax County detectives of Browne's apprehension at Dulles International Airport. Elliott also shared his reaction to the arrest, stating, "I think he finally decided to do something because it's been weighing over his head for the last, well, since 2015. He's been fighting extradition on his own, OK, whatever attorney he has over there, but it's not going in his favor. After a while, he realizes that it's not going away."
