LOS ANGELES — A new supergroup called Cretin Family, composed of musicians Billie Joe Armstrong, Tim Armstrong, Travis Barker, and C.J. Ramone, will make its debut at The Official Ramones 50th Anniversary Tribute on August 30, 2026. The event is scheduled to take place at Hollywood Forever Cemetery in Los Angeles.

Cretin Family includes Billie Joe Armstrong, a member of Green Day, Tim Armstrong from Rancid, Travis Barker of Blink-182, and C.J. Ramone, who served as the bassist for the Ramones. Billie Joe Armstrong stated, "The spirit of the Ramones is alive in every backyard punk show, punk club, and festival. Generation after generation of cretins and weirdos become Ramones lovers. Kids are influenced by the Ramones and they don't even know it yet. ¡Viva Ramones!"

Travis Barker commented on the band's influence, stating, "The Ramones are the blueprint. Punk rock wouldn't be what it is today without them. I'm honored to celebrate 50 years of one of the greatest bands ever!!!" Tim Armstrong also reflected on their impact, saying, "From the moment I first heard the Ramones, music was never the same." C.J. Ramone noted, "This is gonna be the biggest celebration of the Ramones anyone has seen for a long time!!!"

Actor John Travolta will host the tribute. He also plans to screen his directorial debut, the film Propeller One-Way Night Coach, at the event. Travolta stated, "Two years ago, I had the pleasure of experiencing the Hollywood Forever Johnny Ramone Tribute for the first time. It was a blast, and I want to return again for the Ramones tribute! With showing something new, my directorial debut, Propeller One-Way Night Coach. And something old, the 50th anniversary of the original Carrie. It is going to be a fun night. See you there!"

The tribute will also feature a 50th-anniversary screening of the 1976 film Carrie. Proceeds from the event will go to Dr. David Agus' cancer research at the Ellison Institute Research Foundation. The Ramones released their debut LP in 1976 and dissolved in 1996.

Members of the original Ramones have since passed away. Joey Ramone died in 2001, followed by Dee Dee Ramone in 2002, Johnny Ramone in 2004, and Tommy Ramone in 2014. The Ramones were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2002, with Green Day performing at the induction ceremony. C.J. Ramone assumed bass duties for the Ramones in 1989.
