HUNT, TEXAS — The Hunt Preservation Society completed repairs on 27 homes and launched business assistance programs following a flood in Hunt, Texas, on July 4, 2025. The organization also opened a new community center in May 2026.

The society established a community allocations committee to distribute recovery funds after the flood. Lisa Field serves as the committee chair. The organization collected approximately $9.2 million in recovery funds and distributed $6.3 million within the year following the flood.

The society held an open house a few days after the flood to assess community needs. "It was the first time since the flood the whole community had come together at the same place." Field said. The society created a home repair team to assist with housing reconstruction, assigning 42 homes for repair or renovation. In collaboration with Airbnb.org and St. Peter's, the society established a temporary housing program to pay rent for displaced residents.

Construction on the new community center started in October 2025, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony held in May 2026. The center includes space for students to study after school and is designated as a hub for future emergency response efforts. County officials approved the new center as a voting location for the Hunt area, a role previously held by Hunt School.

The society created the Hunt CPR program to provide financial assistance to local businesses. StormWise assisted the society in setting up a database for recovery data.
