BNEI BRAK — Two minors were indicted in July 2026 on multiple charges including breaking into a synagogue, a residence, and a supermarket in Bnei Brak. The indictments followed a police investigation that recovered stolen silver valued at approximately NIS 100,000.

The investigation began after police received three separate complaints regarding break-ins at various locations in Bnei Brak. Investigators from the Bnei Brak-Ramat Gan police station identified and arrested the two suspects, who are residents of Bnei Brak aged 14 and 16.

One alleged incident occurred in May when the suspects reportedly broke into a residence on Yarden Street. They allegedly entered by smashing a window and stole cash and a checkbook from the building's secretariat office. In April, the pair allegedly entered a supermarket on Aharonovitch Street and stole snacks and drink cans.

In June, the suspects allegedly broke into a synagogue, also on Aharonovitch Street. During this incident, they reportedly entered the rabbi's office and forced open a safe. Silver items worth about NIS 100,000 were allegedly stolen from this safe.

The stolen silver items were later recovered and returned to the synagogue. The Tel Aviv District Police juvenile prosecution unit filed the indictment against the two minors. The charges include breaking into a place of worship, breaking into a residence, and theft committed together. Additional charges include breaking into a non-residential building and committing theft, intentional property damage, and trespassing and criminal trespassing together. Prosecutors requested that the minors remain under house arrest until the conclusion of the legal proceedings.
