HOLLYWOOD — Particle6 Productions announced on July 6, 2026, a full-length feature film titled "Misaligned" starring the artificial intelligence (AI) creation Tilly Norwood. In response, SAG-AFTRA criticized the production company for its use of AI in place of human actors.

SAG-AFTRA stated that Tilly Norwood is "not an actor," but "a character generated by a computer program." The organization added that this approach involves "using stolen performances to put actors out of work, jeopardizing performer livelihoods and devaluing human artistry." They further stated that Norwood "has no life experience to draw from, no emotion and, from what we've seen, audiences aren't interested in watching computer-generated content untethered from the human experience."

Particle6 Productions, led by CEO and Founder Eline Van der Velden, described "Misaligned" as a comedy-drama. The company stated the film will be a hybrid production involving traditional film and television professionals working alongside AI specialists. Particle6 Productions plans to work with leading filmmakers and crew for the project and will incorporate AI training and mentorship into the production.

Particle6 Productions described the film as a coming-of-age story infused with existential AI chaos, set in a "Tillyverse," which is a surreal digital world located in the Cloud. Van der Velden, also identified as a comedian and writer, stated, "Our work this year has proven something we suspected all along. AI can support premium narrative filmmaking, but only with substantial amounts of human craft, skill, judgement and time. That's not a limitation of the technology. That's the point."

Van der Velden added, "The film will absolutely be funny, chaotic and self-aware — very Tilly. But underneath it, there's something deeper about identity, performance, and our very human fears around AI. And yes, art will most definitely be imitating life."
