CREWE, ENGLAND — Bentley has named its first fully electric vehicle the Torcal, with an unveiling scheduled for September 23, 2026. The sport utility vehicle measures approximately 5 meters in length and will be built at Bentley's factory in Crewe, England.

The Torcal will utilize the Premium Platform Electric (PPE) architecture, which is also used by the Porsche Cayenne. Bentley states the vehicle will have an electric range exceeding 300 miles. The company tested a prototype of the Torcal in the Arctic Circle in late 2024, and another prototype was observed testing at the Nürburgring recently.

The vehicle features a switchable glass sunroof and all-round power doors. Its interior combines physical buttons for key functions with OLED screens, though it will not offer a separate passenger screen. The front grille consists of a solid wall of illuminated crystals, a design influenced by the Continental T.

Bentley registered trademarks for the names "Torcal" and "Barnato" in Europe and the United Kingdom earlier this year. These trademark filings covered motor vehicles, electric cars, charging cables, and charging stations. The name Torcal is derived from El Torcal de Antequera, a nature park in Andalusia, Spain, known for its limestone rock formations. The word "Torcal" itself comes from the Latin "torquere," which is also the root of "torque." Woolf Barnato, for whom another trademark was filed, won the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1928, 1929, and 1930.

Bentley chairman and CEO Frank-Steffen Walliser said, "For 107 years, Bentleys have been the most incredibly complete cars—effortless performance, outstanding comfort, exquisite British handcraftsmanship using the best natural materials, and a soundtrack with soul." He added, "Our new Torcal sets extraordinary benchmarks in every area that matters and may just be the most considered car in our history."

The company is converting its A1 building in Crewe into a battery electric assembly line and is also constructing a new design center in the same location. In March 2025, Bentley reported €2.6 billion in revenue and an operating profit of €216 million, with an 8.3 percent return on sales. This operating profit represented a 42 percent decrease compared to the previous year.
