BRAINERD — Curtis Keith Poole faces charges of attempted first-degree murder, two counts of attempted aggravated assault, aggravated assault, and felony reckless endangerment following a July 4, 2026, shooting in Brainerd. The incident involved an argument over a karaoke song.

Police responded to 810 N. Germantown Road, where they found a 51-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his right arm. According to police, Poole fired multiple shots during the incident. One bullet damaged a nearby car that had two children inside.

The victim stated that several individuals were at a house consuming alcoholic beverages. He said an argument began between his wife and his brother-in-law, Poole, concerning a karaoke song. The victim confronted Poole regarding the argument. As the victim started toward his car, where the children were already seated, he reported hearing multiple gunshots.

The victim stated that when he turned around, he saw Poole holding a handgun. Witnesses identified Poole as the individual who fired the shots. Law enforcement officers located two spent shell casings and alcoholic beverage cans at the scene.
