NASHVILLE — Metro Nashville Public Schools released preliminary results from the 2026 Spring TCAP and End-of-Course Exams on July 5, 2026. The results indicate year-over-year proficiency gains in English Language Arts, Math, and Social Studies for grades 3-8 and high school assessments.

Overall proficiency in English Language Arts, Math, and Social Studies increased in grades 3-8 in 2026 compared to 2025. Third grade English Language Arts proficiency increased by 2.5 percentage points, while seventh grade English Language Arts proficiency rose by 2.2 percentage points and eighth grade increased by 1.9 percentage points. Fourth grade Math proficiency saw an increase of 2.6 percentage points, and Social Studies proficiency in grades 3-8 increased by 4.1 percentage points, reaching 42.1 percent in 2026.

High school End-of-Course exam scores also showed increases. Integrated Math III scores increased by 7.9 percentage points, and English II scores increased by 6.5 percentage points. Scores also increased in Integrated Math I, Integrated Math II, Algebra I, and U.S. History End-of-Course exams. Metro Nashville Public Schools students had larger year-over-year performance changes than the state average in Social Studies, English I, English II, Integrated Math II, and Integrated Math III.

Dr. Adrienne Battle, Superintendent of Nashville Public Schools, stated that success belonged to students and educators. "Our success is undeniable, and it belongs to our students and the educators who believe in them," Battle said. "By staying focused on improving the conditions for teaching and learning, we are giving our students the support they need to thrive," she said.

Science and Biology End-of-Course assessment results were not included in the report because they had not been received from the Tennessee Department of Education at the time of the release.
