NEW YORK — Paul McCartney performed "I Want to Hold Your Hand" at the wedding reception of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce in New York. This marked the first time McCartney had performed the song live since 1964.

The last live performance of "I Want to Hold Your Hand" by McCartney occurred on September 20, 1964, at the Paramount Theatre in New York. The song itself was released in 1963. Swift and Kelce, both 36 years old, were married as New York City landmarks noted the occasion. Signs outside Madison Square Garden displayed the phrase "JUST&T MARRIED," and the Empire State Building featured a blue light show.

Adam Aron, CEO of AMC Theatres, posted on social media platform X about the wedding. He stated that MSG had been transformed into "an outdoor garden at a lush countryside retreat." Aron described the vows exchanged during the ceremony as "long, entertaining, personal, charming, emotional, irreverent and endearing explorations by each as to how they met, why they want to be with each other for all eternity, the promises they made in joining their much-beloved two whole families as one, and committing to their new mutual life together." Aron concluded his social media post by stating, "I wish you were all could have been there with me, to witness real, pure, true joy."

McCartney, who is 84 years old, previously discussed the level of fame shared with Swift and The Beatles. He told BBC Sounds, "You do see the parallel, you know the fame and the amount of fame." He added, "The worldwide fame that Taylor Swift has and that we had, but I don't think she needs any advice to tell you the truth." McCartney and Swift appeared together on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine in 2020.
