WASHINGTON, D.C. — The U.S. Secret Service is leading security operations for the national special security event in Washington, D.C., for the July Fourth celebrations on Saturday, July 4, 2026. President Trump is scheduled to speak during the festivities around 9 p.m.

National Guard troops and law enforcement personnel are providing security for the event. The U.S. Marshals Service has sworn in officers from 44 local law enforcement agencies nationwide to protect Washington, D.C. Nearly 5,000 National Guard troops are stationed in the city.

Officials stated there are no specific, credible threats for the weekend. Tara McLeese, Special Agent in Charge of the U.S. Secret Service's Washington Field Office, said that law enforcement professionals have been planning the event for several months. "I will tell you that you've had hundreds, if not thousands, of law enforcement professionals planning this event for several months," McLeese said.

Miles of fencing have been erected in Washington, D.C., for the event, with Secret Service agents and officers positioned along the fencing. McLeese said the fencing is designed for safety. "If there is an event that requires a rapid evacuation, they're going to break these fences, and we're going to get people out safely," she said.

U.S. Coast Guard patrols are monitoring boats and vessels along waterways in Washington, D.C. Gadyaces S. Serralta, Marshals Service Director, stated the nation is ready to celebrate. "Our nation is ready to celebrate the birth of freedom in this country," Serralta said. He also affirmed readiness for the event. "When I say that we are ready, I am staking my reputation on it," Serralta said.

Attendees at the July Fourth celebrations must undergo airport-like screening. They are permitted to bring one clear bag, but coolers and chairs are prohibited. A fireworks display is scheduled for 10:30 p.m. on Saturday as part of the America 250 celebrations.
