NEW YORK — Madison Square Garden Sports Corporation announced that James Dolan is ceding day-to-day responsibilities of running the NHL's New York Rangers to his son Quentin, effective July 3, 2026. Quentin Dolan assumed the titles of Rangers president, chief operating officer, and alternate governor, reporting to James Dolan.

Quentin Dolan will also maintain oversight of player performance and science for both the Rangers and the Knicks. James Dolan remains in control of the NBA champion Knicks. "Quentin has quickly become an incredibly valued member of the Rangers franchise and played a key role behind the scenes with the Knicks during their championship run this past season," said James Dolan, Madison Square Garden Sports Corporation Executive Chairman and CEO. "I look forward to seeing the positive influence he can make in this expanded and critical role."

Rangers general manager Chris Drury continues to be in charge of the team's hockey operations department and will report to Quentin Dolan. "I'm honored to have this opportunity to ensure our hockey operations staff, coaches, and players have all the support they need to provide our fans a product they can be proud of," Quentin Dolan said. "I'm looking forward to immediately getting to work with Chris Drury, (coach) Mike Sullivan and the entire staff."

Quentin Dolan, 32, has served on the MSG Sports board of directors since 2021. He previously held roles as senior vice president of player performance and science for both the Rangers and Knicks, vice president and strategic adviser to the executive chairman, and investment director. He is an NYU alum with a bachelor's degree in sports and events management.

James Dolan assumed control of the Knicks and the Rangers 27 years ago. "It's been a goal of mine to really continue my family's legacy, and that's something I understood about myself and wanted early on," Quentin Dolan said. "This is a continuation of that and it feels right."
