Michelle Bolsonaro published two videos totaling nearly 27 minutes on June 24, 2026, accusing Senator Flávio Bolsonaro of disrespect and mistreatment. Following the release, she resigned from the presidency of PL Mulher, the women's wing of Brazil's Liberal Party.

In the videos, Michelle Bolsonaro stated that Senator Flávio Bolsonaro had been "very abrupt" and had "mistreated" her. She attributed the conflict to a telephone call in which Flávio Bolsonaro allegedly told her it would be better for her to stay out of party decisions because she had just arrived and did not understand politics.

Flávio Bolsonaro is the stepson of Michelle Bolsonaro. The dispute was reportedly triggered by the designation of a Senate candidacy in the state of Ceará. Michelle Bolsonaro supported an ally for the candidacy, while Flávio Bolsonaro supported the father of a deputy who nearly won a mayoral election in 2024. On Tuesday, Michelle Bolsonaro informed Valdemar Costa Neto, president of the Liberal Party, that she would leave the presidency of PL Mulher.

Flávio Bolsonaro issued an apology the day after the videos were released. He wrote, "At no time did I offend nor did I intend to offend Michelle." Michelle Bolsonaro stated, "There is no fight or competition." Valdemar Costa Neto advanced his return to Brazil on June 24, 2026.

The Bolsonaro family has been affiliated with the Liberal Party since Jair Bolsonaro selected the party for his 2022 re-election bid. Jair Bolsonaro was sentenced by the justice system to more than 27 years in prison for participation in a coup plot and is under house arrest with restricted access to the outside.

Flávio Bolsonaro experienced a drop in polling in April 2026 after messages with former banker Daniel Vorcaro were made public. In the messages, Flávio Bolsonaro requested help financing the film Dark Horse, which is based on the life of Jair Bolsonaro. Daniel Vorcaro was detained for financial fraud related to Banco Master.
