LONDON — Revolut announced profits of $2.3 billion for 2025 in March 2026, marking a 57% increase in its financial performance. The London-based company, founded by Nikolay Storonsky, received full banking status from U.K. regulators earlier in 2026.
Revolut currently holds a valuation of $75 billion and serves 75 million global customers. The company has also applied for a U.S. banking license. In 2022, Revolut secured a full banking license in Ireland, where over 80% of the adult population uses its services, making the company's name a verb in the country.
Francesca Carlesi, U.K. CEO of Revolut, stated, "Nick's vision originally said [Revolut would be] the single, global, financial super-app. Fundamentally, the idea is that you need to have a single place, a single touch point where you go to and you see everything in terms of your financials. Actually, it's not just financial, we say it is banking and beyond." Carlesi added, "We are probably the only bank at this point that has under the same app, the same roof, everyday banking, lending in the future, savings, trading, wealth management, crypto and everything you need to manage your lifestyle." She also noted, "If we make this happen here, fantastic. The U.K. is a different market, more competitive—we actually like it's competitive—so I don't think we can replicate exactly the same factors [as Ireland]. But clearly for me the main lesson is that the [Revolut] watermark matters a lot. When people start being promoters of Revolut, it's exciting."
Jamie Dimon, Chairman and CEO of JPMorgan Chase, named Revolut as a successful disruptor in his April 2026 shareholder letter. Analysts from JPMorgan Chase noted that Revolut's customer base of 75 million worldwide exceeds the combined scale of Monzo, Starling, N26, Bunq and Wise, and is nearing the scale of JPMorgan Chase itself. SoftBank and Nvidia are major backers of Revolut.
Why It Matters
Revolut's reported profit increase and its recent U.K. banking license demonstrate its continued expansion in the financial technology sector. The company's global customer base and its move to acquire banking licenses in additional markets, including an application in the U.S., reflect a strategic effort to broaden its operational reach and service offerings. These developments position Revolut for a planned initial public offering (IPO), which could impact its founder, Nikolay Storonsky, whose potential net worth could reach $80 billion.
