COLUMBUS — Dr. Jessica Allen from the University of Utah presented a study at the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) annual meeting regarding the real-world safety and efficacy of CD20 bispecific antibodies mosunetuzumab and epcoritamab. These antibodies are used for patients experiencing relapsed or refractory follicular lymphoma. Physician Yazeed Sawalha said, "The study was presented by Dr. Jessica Allen from the University of Utah and provides data on the real-world safety and efficacy of the CD20 bispecific antibodies, specifically mosunetuzumab [Lunsumio Velo] and epcoritamab [Epkinly], for patients with relapsed/refractory follicular lymphoma."

The Collaborative U.S. Bispecifics Consortium performed the multicenter retrospective study, analyzing 99 patients across 11 U.S. academic centers. The median age of the patients in the study was 68 years, with 12% of patients aged 80 years or older.

The study found an overall response rate of 87% and a complete response rate of 72%. Prior pivotal clinical trials for epcoritamab and mosunetuzumab reported overall response rates ranging from 80% to 82% and complete response rates from 60% to 63%. Sawalha noted, "Pivotal clinical trials of epcoritamab and mosunetuzumab showed high response rates in follicular lymphoma, but there have been limited data on how they perform in the real-world setting."

Among the patients, 68% had undergone three or more prior lines of treatment, and 46% experienced progression of disease within 24 months (POD24). Additionally, 15% of patients had previous treatment with chimeric antigen receptor T-cell therapy (CAR-T). The 1-year progression-free survival rate in the study was 72%. High response rates and progression-free survival were observed in patients with POD24, high-risk Follicular Lymphoma International Prognostic Index, and prior CAR-T exposure.

Regarding safety, cytokine release syndrome occurred in 34% of patients, with the majority of these cases being grade 1. Immune effector cell-associated neurotoxicity syndrome was observed in 3% of patients. Infections occurred in approximately 27% of patients; these were predominantly viral, and no deaths were attributed to infection in the study.
