SAN ANTONIO — Peter Balraj received a 45-year prison sentence after being convicted of murder in the death of Christopher Vargas. The sentencing took place on June 30, 2026, in the 290th District Court in San Antonio. In addition to the murder conviction, Balraj was found guilty on two counts of aggravated assault and one count of tampering with physical evidence.

The case stems from a conspiracy formed in December 2022, when Balraj, Joshua Walls, and Adrian Gomez intended to intimidate Vargas into paying past-due rent and leaving his residence. Vargas, who was 32 years old, was found dead at his home in the 3200 block of Nantucket Drive after Adrian Gomez fatally shot him during a confrontation at the property.

Joshua Walls and Adrian Gomez received sentences earlier in 2026 in connection with the murder. While Balraj's co-conspirators were processed earlier in the year, Balraj's conviction and 45-year term were finalized during the June 30 hearing in the 290th District Court.
