NEW YORK CITY — Singer Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce plan to host multiple wedding events at Madison Square Garden, including a rehearsal dinner on Thursday and a celebration on Friday.

Swift performed at the venue as early as 2003, when she participated in a talent competition during halftime at a Knicks game. She sang "Lucky You," an unreleased original song, and stated she was 12 or 13 years old at the time. During the performance, she told the crowd, "I love you, New York."

She returned for concerts during her "Fearless" tour, performing on August 27, 2009. Swift also held concerts at the venue during her "Speak Now" tour on November 22, 2011. On November 1, 2013, she joined Ed Sheeran on stage at his concert there to perform "Everything Has Changed."

On December 7, 2012, Swift performed at Z100's Jingle Ball at Madison Square Garden. She later celebrated her 30th birthday at the venue on December 13, 2019, during the iHeartRadio Jingle Ball. On stage, she stated she chose to spend her birthday at the location. Radio host Elvis Duran presented her with a cake featuring images of her cats.

Swift has attended multiple Knicks games from "celebrity row." She appeared courtside for Game 4 of the 2026 NBA Finals between the San Antonio Spurs and the New York Knicks, where Este Haim and Mariska Hargitay were also present. In a 2014 interview, Swift described former Knicks star Amar'e Stoudemire and his then-wife Alexis as "the most normal people." She added that she talks with and hangs out with Stoudemire every time she is at the Met Gala, describing him as "so cool." Swift has referenced New York City in her music, including in the song "Welcome to New York" from her album "1989" and in "Cardigan," where she mentions the High Line. She also alluded to Madison Square Garden in the song "The Lucky One" on her album "Red."
