NEW SOUTH WALES — The Australian Federal Police (AFP) and New South Wales (NSW) police are investigating the author of more than 100 letters sent to high-profile community figures. These letters were distributed between 2015 and 2026 to state and federal parliamentarians, religious organizations, and community leaders.

NSW police are conducting their investigation under Strike Force Yewrangara. The AFP is specifically investigating letters sent to federal parliamentarians and various community groups. Police have indicated that some of the letters contain threatening or harassing behavior.

Police have seized the letters, which have undergone forensic examination. Authorities have also released excerpts from the anonymous correspondence. The author of these letters uses the aliases "Scorpio" and "Bullit." One specific letter excerpt features a smiley face with impressions similar to bullet casings for eyes, placed above the signature "Scorpio."

Investigators believe the offender is a man of Caucasian appearance in his 60s. The author frequently capitalizes the letters "F," "L," "T," "N," and "H."

AFP Superintendent Nathan Robertson stated that the content of these letters is a major concern. Robertson said, "We have very real concerns about the content of these letters, and people in public life deserve to go about their jobs or careers without being subject to harassment or threats."

Robertson also addressed the nature of the investigation. He added, "Our investigations are into allegations of criminal behaviour, but we also have concerns about whether the person responsible for them has access to appropriate health and support services."
