CANNES — e.l.f. Beauty hired a plane to airdrop a care package to Oliver Widger, a creator whose solo sailing voyage gained popularity on TikTok. The package contained Pringles, cat food, and e.l.f. sunscreen.

Widger undertook the voyage with his cat, Phoenix. After Widger landed in Hawaii, e.l.f. Beauty and Widger conducted a Twitch livestream to discuss his story.

Patrick O'Keefe, chief integrated marketing officer at e.l.f. Beauty, described his company's role in the stunt. "We were the subplot, not the main plot," O'Keefe said.

The marketing activation aligns with industry perspectives on brand partnerships. Samantha Catalina, a fractional CMO, stated that integration must be authentic: "You have to integrate it properly, and you have to integrate it authentically, and so whoever you're doing that with has to actually believe in whatever product they're marketing."
