DOHA — The Doha Film Institute announced the recipients of its 2026 Spring Grants cycle on June 29, 2026, supporting 48 film projects from 39 countries.

Mohamed Kordofani received a grant for his film project, 'About Love & September Laws'. The project is Kordofani's second feature film and is set in Sudan in 1983. His previous work, 'Goodbye Julia', was the first Sudanese film to be shown at the Cannes festival in 2023.

Muayad Alayan was awarded a grant for the project 'Conversation with the Sea'. Theo Panagopoulos received support for the documentary 'Before Our Diaspora'. Panagopoulos's earlier film, 'The Flowers Stand Silently', won best short film at the International Documentary Festival Amsterdam in 2024.

Marie-Clémentine Dusabejambo received a grant for the film 'Ben'Imana'. The film was selected for the 2026 Cannes festival, where Dusabejambo won the Caméra d'Or for best first film.

Fatma Hassan Alremaihi, Chief Executive Officer of the Doha Film Institute, said: "In a world that is constantly changing, culture remains one of our most powerful anchors – preserving our memories, shaping our identities and connecting us across generations." She added: "More than ever, we need authentic stories that reflect the complexity of human experiences and safeguard the histories, perspectives and voices that might otherwise be forgotten."
