WASHINGTON — The Senate Ethics Committee dismissed a misconduct complaint against Senator Ruben Gallego on June 26, 2026. The committee stated it "did not find evidence" for the specific allegations provided by Florida Representative Anna Paulina Luna.

The complaint, filed by Representative Luna, alleged campaign finance violations and inappropriate conduct of a sexual nature. In a letter dated June 26, 2026, the committee informed Senator Gallego, "We are writing to inform you that the Select Committee on Ethics (the Committee) dismissed a complaint filed against you by Representative Anna Paulina Luna." The letter, signed by Chair James Lankford and Vice Chair Chris Coons, further stated, "Based on the investigation of the Committee, the Committee did not find evidence that your actions violated Federal law, Senate Rules or related standards of conduct." The committee letter noted it "retains the authority to revisit this matter should additional facts become known."

The committee considered information contained in the complaint, statements from individuals identified within it, and expenditure reports from Gallego's campaigns and congressional office. The committee also requested additional information from Gallego on April 17, 2026, and May 15, 2026. Luna had previously posted on X on April 23, 2026, that she had heard of four women who experienced uncomfortable or inappropriate advances from Senator Gallego.

Gallego established a legal defense fund in May 2026 to assist with legal fees associated with the complaint. His office stated on June 29, 2026, that he is maintaining this fund to cover outstanding legal fees.

On June 29, 2026, Gallego issued a statement regarding the dismissal. "Today's dismissal reaffirms what I have said about these accusations from the beginning: they were right-wing conspiracies peddled by far-right activists like Anna Paulina Luna, the White House, and their allies," Gallego said. He added, "I look forward to an apology from Rep. Luna for weaponizing the ethics process while refusing to investigate historic corruption that's making life harder for families."
