Danny Miran, father of former hostage Omri Miran, criticized Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich and announced his intention to form a pensioners' party during a 103FM radio interview on June 29, 2026.

Miran criticized Smotrich's conduct during the two years Israelis were held in Gaza. "He is taking credit for something he did not do," Miran said. "Had we really depended on him, the hostages would not be here." Miran acknowledged that Smotrich and his party's ministers supported the first hostage deal but stated that Smotrich created obstacles to attempts to secure the release of the remaining hostages.

Miran said he was at his son's home on June 28, 2026, and observed Omri recovering. "I was at their home yesterday evening, and I saw him playing with the girls, and it gave me an extraordinary sense of comfort," he said. Miran added that the family unit still needs to be rehabilitated and rebuilt.

Miran announced that the establishment of the new party and its principles would be announced on the evening of June 29, 2026. He stated that the party list consists of individuals who work on the ground rather than well-known figures. Miran noted that winning four seats in the Knesset would be an achievement but added, "I believe we will reach six, based on the number of pensioners supporting us." He also stated that members of the Knesset had proposed uniform compensation for returning hostages, with fifty coalition members voting against the proposal and forty opposition members voting in favor.
