U.S. — The Pentagon announced the Agent Network tool on June 26, 2026. The agentic-AI tool is designed to scan intelligence feeds and operational networks to provide U.S. military commanders with targeting options.

A Pentagon press release stated that Agent Network provides targeting options "within seconds." The release also stated, "Agent Network does not autonomously select or strike targets; it ensures commanders remain in charge of every decision." The tool employs artificial-intelligence entities called "agents" to perform tasks such as running scheduled searches or executing email campaigns.

Illia Pashkov, founder of SINT Labs, said, "Agentic AI quietly stopped being a demo this year." He added, "It's drafting code, clearing support queues, grinding through back-office work in finance and healthcare, and now it's reading intelligence." Regarding speed, Pashkov said, "The speed is not hype." He added, "I've watched these systems compress weeks of analyst work into an afternoon." On potential risks, Pashkov said, "The danger was never a dumb agent; it's a confident one running without a leash, a logbook, or a human who owns the call."

A DOD intelligence security official said a host of Defense Department offices and teams are beginning to deploy agent systems. The official said, "There are so many opportunities to leverage the DOD Enterprise capabilities and allow people to build their own agents."

Agent Network is one of seven "pace-setting" projects unveiled in January 2026 alongside a new Pentagon AI strategy. Lumbra and Palantir are key contractors in the effort, with Palantir handling much targeting analysis through its Maven Smart Systems contract.
