WASHINGTON DC — The White House unveiled images of a limited-edition commemorative passport, referred to as the "patriot passport," on June 1, 2026. The U.S. Department of State announced that this passport would be issued at the Washington Passport Agency in Washington, DC, beginning on July 6, 2026, and will be available while supplies last.

The commemorative passport was created to mark the 250th anniversary of the United States. Its design features a three-quarter-length portrait of Donald Trump, leaning over the Resolute Desk with balled fists. This photograph was taken by White House photographer Daniel Torok and is also displayed in the Smithsonian "America's Presidents" exhibition.

Text from the Declaration of Independence surrounds Trump's portrait on the passport. The design additionally includes Trump's signature and the words "United States of America" underneath his portrait. His signature is printed in black, while the number "250" is in gold.

The facing page of the passport displays an image of the Founding Fathers signing the Declaration of Independence, which appears to be based on a painting by John Trumbull. This painting is currently on display at the Yale University Art Gallery. The back cover of the passport features a gold flag with the text "Freedom 250."

President Donald Trump commented on the passport on Truth Social, stating, "The U.S.A.'s New Passport, which says, 'Welcome, but be good!'" A State Department official confirmed that these new passport designs will be available to any American citizen who applies for a passport during the rollout. The U.S. Department of State had announced in April that a commemorative passport would be issued; however, the final design released features different artwork than the earlier rendering.
