CHATTANOOGA — The Chattanooga Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred on Highway 153 South between Thrasher Bridge and Exit 5A on June 27, 2026. A 15-year-old male sustained non-life-threatening injuries in the incident.
Chattanooga Police Department officers initially responded to reports of a person shot at 4:40 a.m. in the 4900 block of Bonny Oaks Drive. Upon arrival, officers determined the shooting did not take place at that location.
Hamilton County EMS transported the victim to a local hospital. The Chattanooga Police Department Homicide and Crime Scene Units responded to investigate and canvas the area where the shooting was reported to have occurred.
A preliminary investigation indicates that the victim was a passenger in a vehicle. This vehicle was involved in a road rage incident with another vehicle carrying the suspect.
Police have not released the identity of the suspect or the victim. The investigation remains ongoing as detectives review evidence from the scene. Authorities are asking anyone with information about the incident to contact the Chattanooga Police Department.
