WINNESHIEK COUNTY, IOWA — Two people in Winneshiek County, Iowa were accused of giving a pregnant woman a lasagna laced with narcotics with the intention of causing a miscarriage, according to law enforcement. The incident took place in December 2025.

Matthew Uthoff, 35, and Amber Dena Snow, 36, face charges including delivery of a controlled substance and purposefully terminating a human pregnancy without the knowledge and voluntary consent of the pregnant individual, according to law enforcement. Snow was arrested on 10 March 2026.

A sample of the lasagna tested by the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation's criminalistics laboratory came back positive for oxycodone, according to the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation. The Winneshiek County Sheriff's Office and the Winneshiek County Attorney's Office began investigating the incident in January after receiving a call about the lasagna, according to the Winneshiek County Sheriff's Office.

Uthoff and Snow had discussed the tainted lasagna in several phone messages and in conversations with investigators, court records indicate. Snow's child was present when the lasagna was delivered to the pregnant individual. The minor objected to the plan to deliver the lasagna laced with drugs.

The victim had no knowledge of the attempt to terminate her pregnancy. Snow shared custody of her child with the victim's relatives.

Both Uthoff and Snow are being held in the Winneshiek County Jail. Snow is being held on a $100,000 cash bond, while Uthoff is being held on a $38,000 cash or surety bond.
