TEXAS — Country music artist Cody Johnson released the album "Banks of the Trinity" on June 26, 2026. The album features 16 tracks and includes songs such as "Thank Somebody Country," "Take Me Back (Leave Me There)," "Cricket on a Hook," and "I Have."

Johnson was named entertainer of the year at the 2026 Academy of Country Music Awards. In April 2026, he headlined the Stagecoach Music Festival. His song "The Fall" reached No. 1 on the charts, marking his fifth career number one song.

Johnson canceled tour dates in the fall of 2025 due to upper respiratory and sinus infections. He subsequently underwent surgery for a burst eardrum and took three months off from touring. During this break, Johnson was present for the birth of his son.

Johnson grew up in Texas near the Trinity River and fished for catfish for food during his childhood. Prior to his music career, he worked as a rancher, rodeo competitor, and prison guard. Johnson has been active in his music career for 20 years. "I've been working on this album for two years," Johnson said. He stated that the album incorporates influences including Motown, Bluegrass, progressive country, old country, and rock. "The rest of the album for me is a musical journey from track one to track 16." Johnson noted that a large portion of his audience is new to his live performances. "And every night, I would say at least 80% of the crowd raises their hands" when asked if it is their first time seeing him live.
