STRAIT OF HORMUZ — U.S. President Donald Trump accused Iran of violating an interim ceasefire by carrying out a drone strike on a cargo ship in the Strait of Hormuz. Trump stated that the U.S. shot down three other drones aimed at the same vessel.

Trump characterized the strike as a "foolish violation" of the ceasefire agreement. He stated that one drone damaged the upper deck of the cargo ship, though the vessel was able to proceed after the incident. Trump's social media post regarding these events did not specify the ship's identity or the exact time of the strike.

The British military reported on Thursday that a vessel was struck by a projectile off the coast of Oman. This occurred after Iran reached an interim deal with the U.S. last week.

The U.S. and Iran are currently negotiating the details of the interim peace deal. These negotiations include discussions on issues such as ensuring the passage of ships through the Strait of Hormuz and addressing the future of Iran's stockpile of highly enriched uranium. Under the terms of the interim agreement, both nations have a 60-day period to finalize these details.

Separately, on Friday, a missile warning was sent in the United Arab Emirates. The alert, issued from the UAE's interior ministry via mobile phones in Dubai, was attributed to a technical glitch. Alerts warning of incoming Iranian missiles and drones have occurred in the region since February 28, the start of the Iran war.
