Grammer further reflected on the idea, stating, "Maybe that would be the way to do it. I have wrestled with it." He added, "I'm vital and prepared to stay that way for quite a while, and yes, it's likely I will at least throw my hat in the ring in some way." Grammer said he does not view his current age as an obstacle to seeking public office.

He also indicated he might postpone a run for public office until his youngest children are older. In 2003, Grammer told a news outlet he would consider a political career "later in my life" and at that time, he envisioned himself potentially serving as a senator.

Grammer described their meeting as "It was fantastic today. Just effervescent. Fun. We traded some old war stories about our lives, our personal lives, our wives and our families. It was really nice to see him."

In a 2025 interview, Grammer referred to Donald Trump as "maybe the greatest" president. He stated his belief that President Trump "celebrates … the American experiment, which is honestly a story of two sides bashing heads all the time and finally coming out with some kind of middle ground that works for everybody."
