PARIS — "Couture," a drama film starring Angelina Jolie and directed by Alice Winocour, opened in select U.S. theaters on June 26, 2026. Vertical distributes the film in the U.S.

Jolie portrays Maxine Walker, an American filmmaker who specializes in low-budget horror films. The plot follows Walker as she travels to Paris to create a werewolf-themed short film for a fashion designer. While in Paris, Walker receives a breast cancer diagnosis.

Louis Garrel appears in the film as a cinematographer. Other cast members include Anyier Anei, who plays Ada, an aspiring model from South Sudan, and Ella Rumpf, cast as Angèle, a makeup artist. Garance Marillier also appears in the film.

Winocour, the writer and director, spent 18 months observing backstage operations at Paris Fashion Week during the script's development. It is the first narrative film to be shot inside Chanel's haute couture atelier. Jolie learned French for her role in the film.

The film previously premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in September 2025. It was then released in French theaters in February 2026. "Couture" is not currently available on streaming platforms such as Netflix or Prime Video in the U.S.

Winocour stated that her mother passed away from ovarian and breast cancer. Winocour said, "I had the feeling of doing a dress, following the threads of these different lives and the detours [life takes]." She added, "And I wanted to show what's behind the perfect images of fashion—the life of workers."
