At least 20 police documents concerning security plans for the October 7, 2023, Nova music festival were deleted from the Israel Police computer system in January 2024. The deletion occurred during an ongoing investigation into the attacks at the festival.

The deleted files included documents labeled "Event requirements." It is unknown who removed the files or whether any copies still exist. Screenshots shared by KAN show that the list of police documents for the festival began with Magen David Adom's approval on September 6, 2023. A formal request to host the festival was filed on September 7, 2023.

Law enforcement and fire brigades had submitted documents detailing security plans to the police computer system. Some of these documents were initially submitted on September 20, 2023. Further submissions occurred on October 5, 2023, the day the festival began. Additional documents were submitted on October 13 and October 29, 2023, after the conflict started.

"The information presented in the report indicates a fundamental lack of understanding in the police system," the Israel Police said in response to the findings. A spokesperson added, "Its entire purpose is to cast blame on the activities of the police, while its police officers and commanders are the ones who saved the State of Israel from the expansion of the massacre and saved many citizens at the risk of their lives and the loss of 58 police officers and fighters."

During the events of October 7, 2023, 58 police officers and fighters died. More than 1,200 people were killed when Hamas infiltrated southern Israel on that date.
