ORLANDO, FLA. — Capt. Lenita King and Trooper Maurice Vilsaint were fired from the Florida Highway Patrol and arrested on June 17, 2026. The arrests followed charges of grand theft, defrauding to obtain property, falsifying public records, and falsifying official documents as public servants.

King, 63, and Vilsaint are accused of claiming pay for off-duty shifts they did not work at the ChampionsGate Community Development District. The district had hired King and Vilsaint to provide law enforcement services, paying them through their personal corporations.

The allegations surfaced after an investigation by the Office of Inspector General at the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles. King, a 22-year veteran at the Florida Highway Patrol, is accused of falsely billing for nine days of off-duty work at ChampionsGate, totaling $3,517. The investigation into King focused on her activities from March 2026 to April 2026.

Investigators found discrepancies in reports filed by Vilsaint while billing the district compared to others submitted to the Florida Highway Patrol from June 2025 to April 2026. King and Vilsaint surrendered to authorities and were released on bond from the Osceola County Jail. King oversaw District 2 in the Orlando-based Troop D. No court dates have been scheduled in their cases.
