FRASER, MICH. — Three Fraser Police officers involved in the fatal shooting of 15-year-old Ayden Gould on May 30, 2026, have been cleared, Macomb County Sheriff Anthony Wickersham announced on June 18, 2026. Sheriff Wickersham stated that the shooting was determined to be justified and conformed to state law and departmental procedures.

The incident occurred at the residence of Ayden Gould's grandmother. Authorities said Ayden Gould was armed with a knife during the incident. Sheriff Wickersham stated that officers initially deployed tasers at Ayden Gould, but the weapons did not take effect. According to a timeline developed by sheriff's detectives, Ayden Gould lunged at officers with a knife three seconds after the second taser deployment.

An autopsy conducted by the Macomb County Medical Examiner found Ayden Gould was struck three times by gunfire. Investigators also stated that a fourth shot fired at Ayden Gould was found embedded in a wall. Sheriff Wickersham said the three officers received professional counseling before returning to duty. Police had responded to the grandmother's house four times since 2018 involving Ayden Gould, according to Sheriff Wickersham.

Amber and David Gould, the parents of Ayden Gould, called the shooting "devastating and unacceptable." A GoFundMe request established for Ayden Gould's funeral expenses raised approximately $13,000, and the Gould family paused accepting donations after receiving funds for funeral expenses, burial, and a headstone.
