HOUSTON — The Houston Police Department resolved a hostage situation at the WoodSpring Suites on Cityscape Avenue on June 25, 2026, rescuing a woman and taking the suspect into custody. The incident began after a woman texted a relative on Wednesday afternoon, stating her boyfriend was holding her against her will inside a hotel room.
Police responded to the southeast Houston hotel and attempted to make contact with the suspect. The suspect refused to cooperate with authorities and did not confirm the woman was safe, leading to a SWAT team response. Officers then breached the hotel room and deployed flashbang devices.
During the operation, hotel guests were evacuated. One guest stated, "I intended to come here, pick up someone and keep going. But after that happened, they rushed them out of their rooms and had to move rooms real fast." The woman was rescued and did not sustain serious injuries. The suspect was taken into custody, charged with unlawful restraint, and is expected to be booked into the Harris County Jail.
