HOUSTON — A man in his 70s died in a hit-and-run crash on Airline Drive near Buckboard Drive in Houston on June 24, 2026. The Houston Police Department (HPD) is seeking the driver who fled the scene.
HPD stated the crash occurred around 10:45 p.m. The victim suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the vehicle involved did not stop and fled the area.
The victim was crossing the street with his wife after she finished work at a nearby restaurant. She was a few steps ahead of him when a northbound vehicle on Airline Drive struck him. Police stated the couple was not crossing at a marked crosswalk or a busy intersection at the time of the crash.
Detectives believe the suspect vehicle may be a silver or white SUV or a small pickup truck. Police also believe the vehicle may be missing its driver's side mirror as a result of the collision. Authorities are urging anyone who has seen a vehicle matching this description and displaying recent damage to contact investigators.
