SAN ANTONIO — Giannys Alexandra Ramirez-Fernandez, 21, and Nelson Adrian Perez-Martinez, 23, received federal prison sentences on June 18, 2026, for sex trafficking a 16-year-old minor in San Antonio. Ramirez-Fernandez was sentenced to 12 and a half years in federal prison, while Perez-Martinez received a 20-year sentence and lifetime supervised release.

Ramirez-Fernandez pleaded guilty on September 17, 2025, to aiding and abetting sex trafficking of children, conspiracy to sex traffic children, and transportation of a minor with intent to engage in criminal sexual activity. Perez-Martinez was initially tried in October 2025, which resulted in a hung jury. Federal prosecutors subsequently filed a five-count superseding indictment against him. A jury found Perez-Martinez guilty on all counts on February 23, 2026.

Ramirez-Fernandez and Perez-Martinez are Venezuelan nationals. According to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, both were in the United States illegally. Ramirez-Fernandez and the teen crossed illegally into the United States in December 2022. Ramirez-Fernandez was 17 years old when she began a relationship with the teen, who was 13 and living with adopted parents in Colombia. Perez-Martinez crossed illegally into the United States in December 2023 and joined Ramirez-Fernandez and the teen.

Prior to their arrests, investigators confirmed that Perez-Martinez and Ramirez-Fernandez traveled with the teen from Richmond, Kentucky, to San Antonio. In 2024, investigators found that they accompanied the teen to approximately six different San Antonio motels between July 19 and July 30. Authorities arrested Ramirez-Fernandez and Perez-Martinez on July 30, 2024, as part of an ongoing investigation into sex trafficking.
