PACIFIC TIME — Anthropic adjusted usage limits for its Claude AI model tiers, introducing defined peak usage hours between 5 a.m. and 11 a.m. Pacific Time for free, Pro, and Max subscribers. The company's weekly usage caps for all subscription levels remain unchanged despite the peak-hour adjustments.

During weekdays between 5 a.m. and 11 a.m. Pacific Time (1 p.m. to 7 p.m. GMT), users will move through their 5-hour session limits faster than before. The changes affect how quickly subscribers consume their allocated usage during these designated peak hours.

"Approximately 7% of users will hit session limits under the new caps who would not have previously, particularly among Pro subscribers," Thariq Shihipar wrote on X. "Shifting token-intensive background jobs to off-peak hours will extend session limits," Shihipar also wrote.

Shihipar wrote that Anthropic will continue investing in scaling efficiently and will keep users updated on progress.

Anthropic saw a surge in mainstream interest after CEO Dario Amodei refused to grant the Pentagon unfettered access to the company's AI models. Amodei said that Anthropic's core focus is its enterprise business.

AI frontier model makers and Big Tech companies, including Microsoft and Google, have dedicated resources to staying competitive in AI development.
