The Spanish-language comic aims to help newly arrived immigrants understand U.S. healthcare systems.

The comic took six months to develop and had a 90% acceptance rate. MCN printed 11,000 copies with sponsor support and distributed them to health centers in 15 U.S. states, including New Mexico, Texas, California, and Arizona.

The comic illustrates the difference between treating minor ailments at a health or community center versus an emergency room. It depicts hypothetical situations involving newly arrived workers, pregnant women, children with missing vaccinations, and older adults with special needs. The organization offers training to entities interested in using the comic as educational material.

MCN was founded in the United States in the 1980s and has been producing comics for decades on topics such as diabetes, mental health, COVID-19, and vaccination. Other comic topics include fat control, cholesterol, hypertension, respiratory health, environmental pollution, pesticide protection, and agricultural safety. These comics are available for free consultation on the MCN website.
