HOLLYWOOD — The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences invited 529 creatives to join its 2026 member class on March 15, 2026. The group includes 95 Oscar nominees, 21 Oscar winners, and three Scientific and Technical Awards recipients.

Invited actors include Jacob Elordi, Jenna Ortega, Stephen Fry, Josh O'Connor, Teyana Taylor, Jon Bernthal, Mia Goth, Julia Garner, Paddy Considine, Simu Liu, Anthony Ramos, Scoot McNairy, Tig Notaro, Bill Skarsgård, Wood Harris, David Dastmalchian, Jemaine Clement, Josh Gad, Lily Rabe, and Jenny Slate. Elordi received an Oscar nomination earlier in 2026 for his performance in Guillermo del Toro's Frankenstein. Taylor was nominated for the best supporting actress Oscar in 2026 for her role in Weapons. O'Connor starred in Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery. Bernthal appeared in Broadway's Dog Day Afternoon and has roles in Spider-Man: Brand New Day and Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey.

Other film professionals invited include directors Alonso Ruizpalacios, Fernanda Valadez, Raven Jackson, Kim Jee-woon, Guan Hu, and Oliver Laxe. Additional invitees are Zach Cregger, Chris Appelhans, Maggie Kang, Ejae, Chris Lavis, Florence Miailhe, Maciek Szczerbowski, Conall Jones, Mathieu Amalric, James Ponsoldt, Eugene Ashe, Andrew Jarecki, Eli Bush, Dan Fogelman, Benny Safdie, Josh Safdie, Liz Jenkins, Dennis Lim, Emily Lu Aldrich, Jonathan Epstein, Danielle Freiberg, Madelyn Hammond, Josh Haroutunian, and Megan Moss.

If all invitations are accepted, the total number of Academy members would be 11,319, with 10,338 voting members. The 2026 invitee class consists of 42% women, with 56% from underrepresented communities, and 53% are from 60 countries and territories outside the United States. Should all accept, the Academy's overall membership will be 36% women and 25% from underrepresented communities.

Bill Kramer, CEO of the Academy, and Lynette Howell Taylor, Academy president, issued a joint statement. "We are delighted to invite this remarkable group of film artists and professionals from around the world to join the Academy," they said. "Through their commitment to filmmaking, this year's exceptionally talented class has made significant contributions to our global movie industry."

The Academy invited 534 creatives to its 2025 member class, which was 45% from underrepresented communities. In 2025, Stephen Graham, Jodie Comer, and Ariana Grande were invited to join. The Academy also announced rule changes ahead of the 2027 awards season that will allow performers to receive multiple nominations in the same category.
