Figma unveiled new design and coding product updates at its annual Config conference on June 24, 2026. The company introduced several AI-powered features, including code layers, AI-generated motion graphics, shader effects, agent skills, and generative plugins.
The new code layers allow users to work with code directly on the Figma Design canvas. These layers enable cloning repositories, generating new directions with Figma's AI agent, extracting flows into editable design layers, and syncing changes back to code. Yuhki Yamashita, Figma's chief product officer, said, "We think the multiplayer canvas is really powerful because this is an environment where you don't really care about the quality of the code." He added, "If you're rapidly exploring or need to kind of explore a bunch of new directions, you can do that in this spatial way."
Figma also introduced AI-generated motion graphics effects, allowing users to create animations and transition effects by describing them through Figma's chatbot interface. Shader tools were also launched, enabling users to prompt the creation of shader effects and fills powered by WebGPU, including dither, pixelate, and various blur types.
New Figma Weave workflows integrate over 20 Weave tools to generate visuals on the canvas. A full integration between Figma and Figma Weave is expected later in 2026. Figma acquired the node-based tool Weavy in 2025.
The company introduced agent skills that allow teams to convert repetitive tasks into skills for Figma's AI agent. This agent can now access context from third-party connectors, web searches, and file attachments, with users able to connect tools such as Notion, Granola, Excel, and GitHub. Furthermore, generative plugins were introduced, enabling users to build custom, reusable plugins using AI prompts without a developer setup.
